๐Ÿฅพ Walk Recap - Burbage Valley Loop

โ€‹

It was our longest hike to date, and what a great one it was!

Amazing rock formations, fantastic views back into the valley and great company. We couldn't have asked for much more.

We had new faces, the weather was on our side and there was a pub waiting for us at the end. What more could you want? We also got to see some new faces this time out which is always really rewarding.

We started the day out in the car park for the Longshaw Estate and took a little wander around the grounds as we formed the group and got ready to leave. If you ever get chance to head up there and take a look around, I highly recomend it. A great place that makes for a great starting point for so many walks and hikes.

As much as it may have looked overcast a lot of the day it was so warm. I also have a sunburnt neck that can verify the conditions!

We met cows too, wild in the land (clearly escaped from a nearby pen). Luckily they were a friendly bunch though and let us pass to make our climb up Higger Tor. Wow, what a view you get from up there. Right across the valley in all directions with some impressive boulders holding one another up in place. Some might say a good metaphor for the teamwork involved in one of these walks!

From up here it was basically a walk around the top of the valley over to the Burbage Bridges then round the other side and off to Lady Cannings for lunch.

Joe got himself some more climbing in as he manage to climb every decently large rock or boulder we found, and then the final stretch back down the other side and to The Fox House for a post walk pint!

If you want to take a look at the walk in more detail, feel free to check out my Komoot recording of it below.

A number of people have asked about a walk that is suitable for bringing kids along so July's walk will be something a little simpler in terms of terrain and also a fair bit shorter than this one so that all the family can come along. Keep your eyes out for the email with details or follow us on Eventbrite to get the latest info there.

I look forward to seeing you at the next one!
